Where ads appear on PayBreakdown, where they never appear, how consent works, and why ads are non-personalised by default.
What this covers
PayBreakdown is free to use and funded by advertising. This page states the rules the site holds itself to: which pages can carry an ad, which never do, how consent is asked for, and what happens when an ad has nothing to show.

What is not decided here
PayBreakdown does not decide payroll correctness, lender approval, benefit entitlement or employer compliance, and does not give regulated financial, mortgage, debt, tax, payroll or legal advice.
Where ads appear, and where they never do
A page carries at most one advertising unit, placed after the page's own content, behind a border, and labelled as advertising. A page qualifies for that unit only when it has something substantial of its own — a working calculator, or enough written content to be worth a visit in its own right. The eligibility of every page is stamped when the site is built and checked automatically, so an ad cannot appear on a page that has not earned one.
Never on the legal and trust pages: privacy, terms, disclaimer, data rights, sources, methodology, contact — or this page.
Never on the payslip checker: figures typed from a real payslip deserve a page with nothing else on it.
Never on thin pages. A page whose content is mostly links or short boilerplate does not carry a unit, and losing enough content to fall below the threshold removes the unit automatically at the next build.
Never above or inside the answer. The unit sits after the content a reader came for, not between them and it.
Consent, and why ads are non-personalised by default
No ad is requested until the reader has made the consent choice offered by the consent platform, and the site's standing default is non-personalised advertising: ads selected from the page's context rather than from a profile of the reader. The cookie and storage settings control in the footer reopens the choice at any time. The space an ad would occupy is reserved from the start and stays reserved: where Google has no ad to show, the space is left blank, and a reader who declines consent sees it with a note that no ad loads without consent. Either way the page never shifts under you because an ad arrived or failed to.
The line advertising does not cross
Advertisers do not influence the figures, the copy, or which calculators exist. No page on this site recommends a financial product, and no calculator result changes because of an advertising relationship. If an ad appears somewhere this policy says it should not, the contact page is the route to report it, and a confirmed breach is fixed in the site's build rules so the class of mistake cannot recur.
How to use this page
This page supports the calculators by explaining the operating position behind them. Read it alongside the relevant calculator output when you need to understand assumptions, limits, contact options, privacy choices, source checks, advertising separation, or terms of use.
Use calculator pages for the numbers and this page for the surrounding policy or trust context.
Check source and methodology pages when a tax, payroll, borrowing, benefit or statutory-pay figure matters.
Contact PayBreakdown if something looks unclear, inaccessible, or out of date.
What this page does not replace
Trust and policy pages explain how PayBreakdown works, but they do not replace official guidance, employer or payroll records, lender documents, legal advice, tax advice, debt advice, financial advice, or a formal data-rights response where one is required.
Practical checks before relying on it
If this page affects a calculation choice, compare it with the current tax year, source date and methodology notes used by the relevant calculator. If it affects privacy, advertising or data-rights choices, use the named contact option and avoid sending salary details you do not need to share. PayBreakdown holds nothing on a server: calculations run in your browser, and a saved setup stays in that browser only. For important decisions, keep a copy of the relevant calculator result, source date and assumptions so you can compare them with updated guidance later. Recheck this page after major product, advertising or calculation changes.
